Never offer a Black any help.
Police are investigating an assault and attempted robbery of an 82-year-old Ypsilanti Township man.
Deputies were dispatched about 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, for a report of an assault in the 2100 block of Golfside Road in Ypsilanti Township, according to a news release from the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived and spoke with the man, who advised he was assaulted after attempting to help another man who had knocked on his door asking for help, police said.
When the victim opened his door, the suspect who identified himself as “Troy” instead demanded money.
The man told him he didn’t have any money and was then thrown to the ground and kicked several times. The man suffered minor injuries from the assault and was taken to the hospital, police said.
The suspect was described as a black male, unknown age, approximately 5-foot-10 and was last seen wearing a black knit cap, either black and dark overalls or dark shirt and pants, police said.
