Think only girls can have periods? Think again you transphobic bigot!
Fantastic news everyone. British school children will now be taught that both boys and girls can menstruate. It’s good to see some real progress on this very important subject.
School children will be taught that “all genders” can have periods in new sex education lessons, in a victory for transgender rights campaigners.
The advice to teachers was approved by Brighton & Hove City Council as they try to tackle stigma around menstruation.
The new advice follows a council report which said: “Trans boys and men and non-binary people may have periods”, adding that “menstruation must be inclusive of all genders”.
Bins used for menstruation products will be provided in all toilets for children, according to the report.
It also calls for transgender students and pupils to be provided with additional support from a school nurse if needed.
The report recommends that “language and learning about periods is inclusive of all genders, cultures, faiths and sexual orientations. For example; ‘girls and women and others who have periods'”
This is spot on. Menstruation must absolutely be inclusive of all genders. It’s patently ridiculous for someone to say that transgender males and non-binary people can’t have periods. Basic biology dictates that both boys and girls can menstruate. Anybody who says otherwise is denying basic scientific facts.
And for anybody who denies science, we have ample photographic evidence proving that both boys and girls can menstruate. Take in point this image of a transgender man who menstruated in his pants. What more proof could one possibly need?
And damn right periods are not just for women. Menstruation is inclusive of all genders. It is time to end this outdated stigma promoted by Neo-Nazis and White supremacists who claim that only females can menstruate. Such a view represents transphobic bigotry and hate of the worst kind. This type of warped and misguided view can’t be allowed in a tolerant society.
But even though this represents good progress, it still does not go far enough. The British government needs to spend taxpayer funds on programs to educate the public on this very important issue. They also need to provide free tampons and maxi pads for menstruating transgender men. Many billions of British Pounds must be allocated towards these efforts. If not, it is hard to see the United Kingdom surviving into the future.
