A Middletown High School student is charged with felonious assault in the beating of another student in the hallway Monday.
The victim, Chris Bolt, 15, was sent to the hospital bleeding from his nose and ears, and could not remember what happened.
His mother, Jennifer Bolt, is still trying to wrap her head around why someone would assault her son.
“He still really doesn’t understand what happened. He thought they were becoming friends and then he’s in an ambulance,” Bolt said.
Chris said he was shoved into a brick wall by a student twice his size.
“We’re talking like friends and the next thing I know I’m getting punched,” Chris said.
According to Middletown police, Bolt was punched several times in the stomach and the face. He was rushed to the hospital with several injuries, including a concussion.
“The bone in the bridge of his nose is broke, and he does have a perforated ear drum, which he’s got to go to the ear, nose and throat doctor to find out if there’s any hearing loss,” Jennifer Bolt said.
The suspect’s mother doesn’t condone what happened. She told WLWT her son has been in trouble before, but isn’t getting the help he needs.
“He says he goes to the counselor all of the time, but when he makes it back to class, he’s in trouble. So he’s like, ‘I try not to go to the counselor,’” Tiffany said. WLWT did not use her last name to protect the identify of her juvenile son, who is now charged with a crime.
The teen was in court Tuesday and his mom is begging for help for her son, before things get worse.
“They’ve got him shackled by the ankles and by his hands, like how am I supposed to be OK with that? I can’t just be OK with that. My son doesn’t fight like that. That’s not OK and nobody’s trying to help him,” Tiffany said.
