Oh dear, another Black Hebrew Israelite who went down the wrong path…
Champaign police are looking for a man they believe responsible for the fatal weekend shooting of another Champaign man.
On Thursday, police obtained a warrant for the arrest of Isaiah D. Cain, 28, whose last known address was on Welland Place in Champaign, after the state’s attorney’s office filed murder charges against him in the fatal shooting of Scott Roth.
Mr. Roth, 21, was shot in a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 400 block of Edgebrook Drive about 1:50 a.m. Sunday. He was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital, where he died a short time later.
Police developed enough information to have the state’s attorney’s office seek the arrest warrant for Cain from Judge Roger Webber on Thursday. Webber set bond on the warrant at $2 million.
Police are still hoping to get more information on Mr. Roth’s killing, the second of 2019 in the city.
Scott Roth (family doesn’t seem Jewish, despite the surname).
